The darker mornings & evenings make it evident we have just a few weeks of 2013 left; a year which sees your club celebrating its 30^th birthday.

During this year we have welcomed many new members & I trust you & your dog are still enjoying your sessions with us.  Do not be put off if your dog plays up a bit as they are in a strange environment but take comfort in the fact that we have all be in the same position; be patient, use the training methods of reward, repetition & praise to be sure of progressing & practice for about 5 to 10 minutes daily.  Soon you could see yourselves moving through the classes to intermediate & top classes on Tuesdays.   

Whilst we have just a few weeks left, plans are well in hand for …………..

A fun filled evening awaits you of customised fun games (you and your dog in partnership) including the much loved musical squares, biscuit relay race, egg & spoon race, statues; Fancy Hat competition; Special “Christmas Cake” for the dogs; Raffle; Achievement Presentations of trophies, certificates, medals; Charity Presentations; Photos

I would love to see you there; just look at the fun you could be having ……

Last training nights ~ Monday 9^th & Tuesday 10^th December 2013.

Training will recommence on Monday January 6^th 2014.

Woodside Animal Welfare Trust

Your club has a special affinity with Woodside Sanctuary (charity number 299789) & we are, again, asking club members to donate food, treats & toys for all the animals they take in.

A box will be available during club nights to ‘house’ your kind donation(s) & everything collected will be passed on to the charity’s representative during the Christmas Party.  Your contributions will make a vast difference to those animals who are not as fortunate as your own. 

Be aware Woodside residents are not just dogs so do please remember the cats, rodents, pigs etc …………

What have we been up to during 2013?

Some of the display team members are pictured here at one of the shows.  Thank you to everyone who attended & helped with the obedience & agility displays.  Again we had such positive feedback regarding the displays.

Your participation is greatly appreciated & I hope you enjoyed showing off your dog’s skills, not worrying if they didn’t stick to the script or invented their own interpretation (it is all part of the fun). 

Taking part is not limited to those in the top class as you can see from the puppies pictured too so let your class trainer know if you are interested in taking part next year.

The photo below captures the lovely sunset at the barbecue held in September which marked the end of the agility season at Gables (resumes after Easter next year).  In the foreground are Dave & Teresa, our chefs, with one of their fellow committee members Agata (love the aprons)

  

And here is Lou, Our Vice-Chairman, Vice-President & co-founder of the club cutting our 30^th birthday cake, last month.  We learned a lot about the club during the evening, including how we were the first in the South West to offer the Kennel Club Good Citizen Award Scheme when it was launched some 20 years ago.  Long may the tradition continue ………………
